Symbols, labels, legends, and pathway lines form a drawing language. The language is useful only when the project defines it visibly and applies it consistently.
Stage sequence
- Select distinct symbols and readable sizes for the intended print and screen formats.
- Assign stable identifiers and show every meaning in the project legend.
- Use route IDs, line styles, direction/transition notation, and assumptions to distinguish cable, conduit, backbone, spare, and alternate intent.
- Connect device and route IDs to schedules; reconcile quantities after every revision.
- Test monochrome, zoom/reflow, and field-print readability, and provide prose/table equivalents for essential visual information.

Deliver a versioned legend, annotated plan, route/pathway notation, and linked schedules that another team member can interpret without guessing.
